Taylorville, Illinois -- THS graduates donate services to SHADOW Home

SHADOW Home, a residential, faith-based program for homeless women and children, now has its own Web site, thanks to the generosity of two Taylorville High School graduates.

When Michelle (Klemm) Tjelmeland, founder and owner of a Web consulting and design firm in Springfield, learned of the mission of SHADOW home, she contacted Executive Director Brenda Branch to offer her expertise. Tjelmeland designed the shelter's website at www.shadowhome.org.

Jeff Black, owner of a Web development company, created the Web site graphic banners.

Tjelmeland, who became profoundly deaf at age 25, wanted to help others as she was helped when she received a cochlear implant, which allowed her to hear again.

The Web site allows SHADOW Home to raise funds to continue its mission. Residents are provided lodging, meals, clothing, and laundry facilities. Through mentoring and informal classes, SHADOW also gives women tools to enter the work force while fostering the development of relationships with God and man.
