Illinois State Treausurer Giannoulias  honors  Michelle Tjelmeland with the  2008 "Woman on the Rise" award

Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias hosted a financial symposium for women on March 4 in Springfield.

Treasurer Giannoulias was the keynote speaker and Ashley Glass, a WICS News Channel 20 anchor and reporter, emceed the event. Topics included managing health care costs, identity theft prevention, online money management tools and recession-proofing your portfolio.

Ginnoulias presented the 2008 "Woman on the Rise" award to Michelle Tjelmeland, owner of e-websmart (www.e-websmart.com) and founder and board chairman of the Cochlear Implant Awareness Foundation (www.ciafonline.org).

This award honors an entrepreneurial woman who has successfully followed her dream of owning her own business and, through her accomplishments, has created greater economic opportunity and provided inspiration to other women in her community.
